Half Marathon Training with Podcasts

My first half marathon is about a month away! I'll be running the half with 3 of my friends from college in St. George, Utah. I had to get a 7 mile training run in today and ended up going to a greenbelt trail nearby. I wasn't feeling super motivated, but once I got on the trail and saw the beautiful setting with all of the trees changing colors I felt much better!

This was the first time I had tried listening to podcasts instead of music on a long run. A friend that just completed a half recommended this to me to help get through the training. I think it definitely helped and will keep it up!

What tips do you have when you're in training and just aren't feeling motivated for a long run?

  2. Christy,

I've just been browsing your blog site...you have truly found your passions. I'm very glad for you and look forward to getting inspired toward better health from your encouragement.

    All your recipes look wonderful!

I've started to WALK ;) a little more frequently now. Maybe with all of us walkers, striders, runners "behind" you, you'll have some extra umphhh :-) for your marathon. I like the picture of Winston too!

    Love you,
    Cathy

  3. Hi!
I am so jealous of your runs...that sounds bad... of your marathon training. We dont know eachother officially but we have two mutual friends, Jane Renner and Jen Sadler, and my mom tells me about you all of the time (Cindy Coleman from MSV).
Anyway, I live in Italy and can relate to the lack of motivation as I have totally burned out on running, mainly because I was so sick of my music but also, I can not find a running partner anywhere. Im so desperate that Ive even considered posting an ad/flyers around town...but than I think that may make me seem creepy and desperate- kind of like writing comments on your mom's friend's daughter's blog.
Anyway, Ill definitely try the podcast. Do you have one you suggest?
I would love to go for a run and meet officially when I am home for a month at Christmas, unless youre really fast, and then we can do coffee.
    Great blog! Kate

Hi Kate! Thanks for the nice post... You may be jealous of my run but I'm jealous that you are in Italy! Let me know when you are in Denver. I would love to get together!
